We’re Moving About 905 Miles <- That Way

That’s right folks the Stapleton Mansion is being packed up and moved to Nebraska .

You know Nebraska?  Its wedged in between Colorado, Wyoming, South Dakota, Kansas, Missouri & Iowa?

Come on! I know you’ve seen pictures.  Ok if you haven’t seen a picture there’s one below.

I’ve accepted a promotion and we will be relocating to Lincoln, NE in the near future.  With my new job (same company) I’ll be responsible for CSI customers in NE, IA, CO, NM, OK, & a wee little bit of MO.   We are still working on the specifics of the move so no dates have been set, all we can say for sure is that the move will take place in 2012.

There are going to be some long weeks and months ahead but I’m looking forward to the new professional challenges and have been very blessed for all the support that Jess has given me making the decision process so much easier.

Jess will need to find new employment in Nebraska.  However we’ve been told that West Virginia’s special education certification requirements are so much higher than other states she shouldn’t have a problem obtaining a position just about anywhere in the US.  That information in addition to the 3.6% unemployment rate in Lincoln and I’m pretty sure she should be able to land a full-time job for the fall 2012 school year.

I even have a chart!

Please note that no visual aids were needed to convince Jess to move sight unseen to Lincoln I am just that good of a salesman

That’s all for this entry.  We just wanted to let everyone know what was going on.

More to come . . . . .

The Mayo Clinic, Key West, & Back to School

Greetings and Salutations Faithful Stapleton Blog Readers!

As usual it’s been too long since the last update so let’s see what has been going on. I’ve been working and traveling quite a bit as usual, also working through some changes going on at work (nothing to worry about but a whole bunch of extra stuff to do). Jess has finished her second year of teaching and is still loving it. With the added benefit of not getting riffed (Reduction In Force Notification) so we knew she had a job at the same school all summer long. (That was a nice change)

In June we referred Jess to the Mayo clinic in Jacksonville to see what else we could do for her headaches. Unfortunately we learned there is nothing more we can do right now, but we are still looking for other options. To say that the trip was a downer would be an understatement, but we at least came out of it with a validation of her current course of treatment. As we got back into town on June 22nd we heard the sad news that Jess’s paternal Grandmother passed away rather suddenly.  We then spent the rest of the month attending to family needs.

July was just a blur between work and vacation. However we did treat ourselves is year to a trip to Key West. It was beautiful as you can see from the pictures below.

Plus there was a 12th anniversary to celebrate in July as well!

August was quite busy as well.  My customer conference for work was early than usual this year.  I took on some extra responsibilities and was onsite the entire week. August came pretty early for Jess as well she had to report back to school on August 10th (I believe a great historical figure was born that day, oh that’s right me!). Then school started full speed on Monday the 15th. However Jess’s students weren’t the only ones not happy about school starting.

All in all pretty normal, red blooded American in fly over country kind of stuff.  As always Jess and I hope this entry find you and yours doing well.

Until next time, that’s the news and I am outta here!

The 12th Anniversary

Although the posting is running a little late this year . . . .

July 24th was our 12th Wedding Anniversary.  Yes it was just 12 short years ago that Jess and I were married on a dark and stormy afternoon in July.  We’ve outlasted many TV shows, been through a couple of recessions, and survived many many things together.  There have been several ups and downs, things we have not expected nor planned for but we have made it through it all.

As always to celebrate this momentous day I will update the famous paragraph below as is tradition, post our yearly anniversary picture, and never take for granted the love that God has blessed us with.

So after 2 houses, 1 rental, the cars going to Graley’s Auto Body 13 times, 2 BA degrees, 1 MA degree (plus many more hours in certifications), 6 computers, 2 beds, 4 TV’s, 10 DVD players (this statistic has come to a halt since we switched to AppleTV’s) , 12 jobs, 7 cars, 3 surgeries, 1 major wreck, 2 washers, taking in Petey & Phoebe, and finding a church home we’re still together so it must be love.

Update On The Visit To Mayo

I know that everyone is wondering and I’ve also been asked several times how the trip to Mayo went, so here we go.  The long and the short of the story is we have had Jess’s current treatment validated by one of the best hospitals in the country.

At this time she is either on the best or has tried and cannot tolerate the best medication they have for her condition.  The doctor spent a lot of time with us and really took the time to understand what was going on.  The only thing new we found out is the doctor believes that the migraines since the wreck are the same migraines Jess has had since she was diagnosed at the age of two. It’s his belief that the trauma of the wreck has just caused them to manifest differently and in a more aggressive way.

We were treated exceptionally well while at Mayo and the doctor was exactly what we wanted, he was very thorough, attentive, and honest.  Since Jess’s migraines have no known triggers there is really no other treatment options for her right now.

From here we are going to try some dietary changes and supplements that the doctor recommended.  The things we are going to try represent no risk to her and does not require the supervision by the doctor at Mayo.  Coming into this we knew that we may not find out anything new.  However sometimes a second set of eyes and validation of what you are already doing can be a comfort too.

We thank you all for your prayers and concerns.  Just because we didn’t find a medication or treatment, we are not going to stop trying to make Jess’s quality of life better.  For as bad as things are now she is so much better than in the months immediately after the wreck. For now we are just going to keep on trying what ever we can and stay on top of her care.
