{"id":158,"date":"2008-06-15T23:32:07","date_gmt":"2008-06-16T03:32:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jakestapleton.com\/wordpress\/?p=158"},"modified":"2008-06-15T23:32:07","modified_gmt":"2008-06-16T03:32:07","slug":"happy-fathers-day-dad","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jakestapleton.com\/wordpress\/archives\/158","title":{"rendered":"Happy Father&#8217;s Day Dad"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hard to believe that he&#8217;s been gone 19 years this November.\u00c2\u00a0 Sad thing is I do not even remember the last Father&#8217;s Day that I had with him.\u00c2\u00a0 I am sure that beyond a hastily chosen card I did nothing for him.\u00c2\u00a0 But then I think remembering a passed father is not about every holiday that you spent with him.\u00c2\u00a0 It is about all the times that you remember so vividly that you can describe in every detail.<\/p>\n<p>For example I can remember riding home with him one night from a Boy Scout meeting.\u00c2\u00a0 It was about 8:30 on a summer evening and Dad was listening to the 8-track player in his <a onclick=\"pageTracker._trackPageview('\/outgoing\/www.allpar.com\/cars\/chrysler\/new-yorker-brougham.html?referer=http:\/\/jakestapleton.com\/wordpress\/wp-admin\/edit.php');\" href=\"http:\/\/www.allpar.com\/cars\/chrysler\/new-yorker-brougham.html\">Black Chrysler New Yorker<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 &#8220;My Way&#8221; by Frank Sinatra was playing and we were passing the corner of 5th Ave &amp; 11st St at what was then the &#8220;First National Bank of Huntington&#8221; building.\u00c2\u00a0 We had the windows down and I was enjoying the cruise through town.<\/p>\n<p>Why do I remember that so vividly?\u00c2\u00a0 What was so special about that moment that it was seared in my memory?\u00c2\u00a0 It was when Dad introduced me yet again to the music of Frank Sinatra but I actually paid attention that time.\u00c2\u00a0 I remember thinking that this is not too bad, maybe all Dad&#8217;s music is not awful.\u00c2\u00a0 Today when I listen to my Frank Sinatra music I think of Dad every time.<\/p>\n<p>It is not always huge events, Holidays, or all the times that you think you should remember that end up being important to you when a parent passes.\u00c2\u00a0 It is all the little times that you spent with them that mean nothing right then but yet live with you so vividly forever for one reason or another.<\/p>\n<p>Happy Father&#8217;s Day Dad<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/jakestapleton.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/06\/dad-me.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-right: 0px;
